Our Book Faire with Once Upon A Time Bookstore in Montrose will also be available at morning drop off and noon pick up both days. New School Year! New Faces! New Fun!!!!

Welcome Back one and ALL! Yes, it is true...we have been in session now almost a month! I wanted to give everyone a chance to settle in before I gave my official Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a great summer and has been able to ease their way back into their schedules! I know it has been very exciting seeing all the new faces around school and all the familiar ones as well! We are looking forward to the year ahead and all of the fun activities we have planned! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to stop by the office and see Cherie or CherBear anytime!

No School - Tuesday, October 5th (tomorrow) Due to our Staff In-Service Day. The teachers will be hard at work re-certifying themselves in CPR and First Aid.

Hello ALL! It has definitely been awhile, but I have missed you guys! I was exhausted after that GREAT DRAGON FAIRE!!! Did everyone have a wonderful time?!? I know I did! I couldn't stop myself from running around! There were so many cool things to do! Ask your kids what they loved about the Faire! I want to know about all their favorites! Reduce, Recycle and Reuse!

I got to poke my head in at Chapel on Wednesday (yesterday) and I learned so much! It appears another important day is coming next week besides the Dragon Faire! That day is Earth Day - April 22, 2010! Miss Cherie and Amy Miller (Mom of Drew Miller in Blue Door) taught us about something wonderful we are going to do next week to celebrate Earth Day!

Chapel began by singing God Made the Earth. It is one of the kid's favorites! You might hear your children singing it, so let me teach it to you!

God made the Earth and God made the sky,
God made the fish and the birds that fly,
Animals, flowers, trees so tall,
God made everything - great and small,
God made all that I can see,
God made you and God made me!

Then we talked about how God made our Earth and really wants us to take care of it! We learned that our trash goes to a place called the dump and dumps are getting really full! If we recycle then maybe the dumps won't get full so fast! Amy showed us lots of things that we can recycle from water bottles, paper, cans, glass and even shoes! Checking to see if something can be recycled is super easy! All you have to do is look for the 3 arrows that kinda make a triangle! She also showed us how things that can be recycled can also be reused! It was so awesome! They can turn paper into cereal boxes, cans can be turned into a baseball bat, candy wrappers can be made into a colorful bowl, and the bottom of our sneakers can be broken up to help make asphalt! The kids were so excited to learn about all the cool ways to recycle! Something else that is awesome that Amy told us is when you take all of your recyclables to the recycling center, they give you money!!! So cool!

Then Miss Cherie and Amy told everyone the best part!

All next week the kids can bring in plastic bottles, paper and cans to the school. There will be 3 bins to put all of our recyclables in on the upstairs patio. They look just like this.

On Friday, April 23rd - all of the Monday, Wednesday, Friday and PreK kids are going to have a Pizza Party with the money we got from recycling!!!

Ooohhhh The Anticipation!!!

It's coming soon! Check out the countdown clock on the right of the page! How many days left till our fun day? Dragon Faire 2010 will be here before you know it, so make sure it is on your calendars now! On Saturday ~ April 24, 2010 from 10-2, St. George's Preschool transforms into a magical land for the day! There is a ton of fun to be had! Take your pick of the many booths with fun games for all, pony rides, and the inflatable maze! Balloon Animals are back this year and they have even added a new maze! I am so excited because there will be so much to do! Take time to fill up your tummies with the best burgers ever ~ IN-N-OUT Burger Truck or the delicious treats from Georgie's (yes, they are mine) Snacks! Shop till you drop at the amazing Silent Auction! There is something for everyone in there! Don't forget about the Raffle Tickets either! They are selling like hotcakes this year! Last year's 50/50 winners won over $3000! Take a chance on being one of our lucky winners this year!! If you would like to purchase raffle tickets, contact my people (the school) or you can buy them at the Faire! Feel free to contact my people (the school) if you have any questions!

A New Start!

Welcome one and all! I am Georgie the Dragon and this is my blog! Most of you may already know me from the Dragon Faire, but for those of you that don’t ~ I am St. George's Preschool’s favorite dragon! While it is fun to spend the most time with everyone during Faire time, I want to let you all know that I am here the whole year! I thought this blog would be a good way to keep everyone up to date on the happenings of the everyday life of our Preschool. It’s also a place to provide info on Early Childhood Education topics, nutritional info, green living ideas, tips and tricks and topics in between! Please enjoy and stop by often!
