for Adults & Children.

We are also collecting blankets,
sleeping bags and gloves.

All of these items will be donated to Union Rescue Mission ~ a homeless shelter in Downtown Los Angeles.

A collection bin will be outside the church or office until December 1st.

The Union Rescue Mission is the only shelter that takes in single parent families and intact families. The Mission has 900 beds (although they sometimes have as many as 1200 people there) PLUS their Hope Garden transitional facility has room for 40+ families (about 180 kids) and about 30 senior women.

Summer Adventure Week 3 - Bakery Shop

Hello again!!! The third week of Summer Adventure - Bakery Shop was a sweet treat! It was a shorter week due to the 4th of July holiday, but included many more friends!! The kids really enjoyed painting our play oven, and then using it with real bakery equipment like pie pans, pizza trays, cupcake tins. In our bakery, the children spent a lot of time making various items with the playdough. This resulted in much negotiation of who got how much playdough, pretend cupcakes and pretend doughnuts. The children did a good job of working it out between themselves! Of course, they also really liked doing the real baking- and frosting and decorating. So many sprinkles!!! We made baker men and women, baker's hats and matched colorful cupcake tops. The children did a great job matching the colors. Many of the kids came to school ready to meet with their new and old friends. Older kids are have been taking some of the younger ones under their wings and including them in their play. The younger kids really enjoy it and look up to the older kids. Friday wrapped up the week with water day, which continues to be a hit with the children and a special lunch! The kids made their own turkey and cheese sandwiches and cut them into various shapes with cookie cutters! Lunch also included apple slices and carrots!

Summer Adventure Week 2 - Treasure Hunt!!!

Hello ALL! Summer Adventure has been so much fun and so busy that this post is really late! Sorry! Week 2 -Treasure Hunt was a sure find! We had a larger group of kids that week which produced more large group play on the yard - team building of waterways, hide & seek, tag and more! There was a nice mixture of ages in play! The children loved sailing along in our pirate ship play structure! They painted and glued jewels on their own treasure chests, made telescopes, strung pirate jewelry, laced a pirate hat and made a giant treasure map! Every day's preparation for our big treasure hunt led to a great sense of anticipation and excitement! They collected their bounty in their very own decorated treasure boxes! Friday finished up the week with a fun water day and a lunch of chicken legs, biscuits and grapes!

Summer School is Underway!

Hello St. Georgians!

It was sad to say goodbye to all of our friends that are leaving St. George's, but I know you will have so much fun wherever you go!

Summer has gotten off to a great start! Summer School started last week and the kids have been having a blast! The first weeks theme was Jungle Safari! The kids really enjoyed a safari hunt!


They cruised around in their safari jeep while spotting a lion, flamingo, giraffe, elephant and a jungle dragon! It has been fun to see everyone blossoming so far! Lots of new friendships between the various ages & classes have been forming. Kids are really expressing the friendships as they have lunch together everyday. The lunch atmosphere is very social and the kids leisurely enjoy their meals with their company! The threes have really been stepping up to the plate with some of the more challenging projects and are doing well. Friday wrapped up the week with water play. The kids all had fun with the sprinklers, kid pools, and water spout on top of the play structure!
We also had a special lunch of pizza and watermelon!

Week two is underway now with a treasure hunt theme! Stay tuned for more details about how our play structure has become a pirate ship! Ahoy mateys!

I sure do hope everyone is having a Grrrreat summer!

It's Registration Time!!!

It's that time of year again! Registration time! As many of you know there is a new procedure this year for registration! The process follows the Calendar below:

Incoming Tuesday-Thursday (3 Year Olds) Program
Students with *Priority Status - January 10th, 2011 - January 14th, 2011
Open Enrollment for all other 3year olds - January 17th, 2011

Monday-Wednesday-Friday (4 Year Olds) Program
*Priority Enrollment for Returning students - January 31st, 2011 - February 4th, 2011
Open Enrollment (for those not currently enrolled) - February 7th, 2011

Monday-Friday PreK Program
*Priority Enrollment for Returning students - January 31st, 2011 - February 4th, 2011
Open Enrollment (for those not currently enrolled) - February 7th, 2011

There is a $150 non-refundable fee that will be collected at the time of enrollment. This fee includes a Preschool T-Shirt, Tote Bag and Yearbook!
